According to GfK Temax, all categories of the technical consumer goods market registered good performances in the fourth quarter 2015 compared to the same period of 2014 (+28,2% overall). The TCG sectors reached good results (+17,9%) also in the whole year 2015 compared to 2014.
Major domestic appliances
The MDA sector registered growth in Q4 2015 which resulted entirely due to washing machines, with a 17% growth from Q3 2015. Tumble dryers saw major growth as well. All other MDA categories were fairly stable with little to no decrease.
Small domestic appliances
Egypt’s SDA market closed the fourth quarter with a sales increase of 33%, compared to Q4 2014. Positive results came from the food preparation segment, which increased by 48%. The shavers market showed the second biggest increase (42% in comparison to Q4 2014).
Telecommunications
In Q4 2015, the telecommunications sector recorded growth of 24.5%, compared to Q3 2014. In addition, this sector achieved 6% increase in revenues, compared to Q3 2015.
Consumer electronics
Revenues in the CE sector recorded a 15% increase in Q4 2015, compared to the same quarter last year. Considering the whole year 2015, the consumer electronics achieved a growth of about 8% compared to the year 2014.
Photography
The Photography market keeps on showing positive growth in Q4 2015. The sector saw an increase of 128.3% compared to the same period of 2015 and registered a progressive growth in the four quarters of last year.
Information technology
The IT sector recorded growth of 23% in Q4 2015, compared to Q4 2014. This growth was partially driven by mobile computing.
Office equipment and consumables
The Office equipment and consumables sector reported an increase of 37% for Q4 2015, compared to the same quarter in 2014. Printers and multifunctional devices (MFDs) were the key to the success of this sector.
