Today it is more important than ever to spread the business culture and focus on training human resources, especially young people. The lack of adequately trained personnel penalizes the competitiveness of companies in an era in which skills are the main company asset. Technological evolution encourages to pay special attention to STEM disciplines, which represent an opportunity for professional growth of young people and, at the same time, an opportunity for companies to evolve. With this in mind, the Cimbali Group once again took part in a recent initiative organized by Assolombarda.

Tech Tour: students visited MUMAC

On the occasion of the “National STEM Week”, MUMAC (the Cimbali Group’s Coffee Machine Museum) opened its doors to the students of the Tech Tour 2025. This initiative involved 63 companies that welcomed over 1,200 students from 24 high schools in the provinces of Milan, Monza and Brianza, Pavia and Lodi. The educational proposal aims to introduce young people to the topics of innovation, technology and digital transition projects developed by the companies. The format offers the possibility of understanding the professional opportunities connected to the study of STEM disciplines, with the aim of spreading an increasingly conscious orientation on these issues.

For the second year, the Cimbali Group and MUMAC have joined the project, welcoming students from the IIS Cavalieri-Marignoni in Milan to the museum, accompanied by their teachers. During the visit, the students discovered the evolution of the history, technology, innovation and design of a product that symbolizes Made in Italy: the professional espresso coffee machine.

In addition to exploring the exhibition spaces, they had the opportunity to discuss business issues and access the company’s production area. Here they were able to take a look “behind the scenes” of the machine manufacturing, enjoying an immersive experience at the heart of production. “A lesson outside the classroom – Cimbali Group explains – which, on the one hand, allowed them to discover the company’s historical heritage and the evolution of its production system. On the other hand, it offered a direct experience of innovation in the field, helping to understand the new frontiers of technology, digital and sustainability”.

Coffee culture since 2012

MUMAC was born in 2012 to celebrate the centenary of the company’s foundation by Giuseppe Cimbali in Milan. With over 100 machines on display, it tells the story of the sector. In addition, another 250 pieces are available for rotation within the museum or worldwide loans. Among its activities, MUMAC organizes educational initiatives for schools, universities and families. And through MUMAC Academy, it offers courses for professionals and coffee lovers. The new training activities for 2025 have just been launched, aimed at enhancing the skills of professionals in the world of bars and coffee shops. Not only training to learn coffee preparation techniques, but also training sessions with experts in collateral subjects that enrich the barista’s skills. Interdisciplinary training is the focus of the activities that MUMAC Academy will carry out in 2025 with the aim of promoting the ever-evolving culture of coffee.
